Hi JW, yes this is the table, using the 3rd form metal work skills. This gold is a second run of cons that I had saved up over time. With the price rocketing I reckon every dot counts. Cheers.
I got to fourth form industrial. We didn’t do miller tables. Any chance you could help with instructions on building a Simple one ?
Hi Gboro, You tube has a bunch of build videos..
Mine is 350 w x450 l. The key is the baffle that slows the water down creating an even flow across the width of the tray. I put the garden hose into the top on low and the baffle smooths out the flow. I adjust pitch using bits of wood to suit. Crude but works. Very satisfying watching the black sand peel off leaving nothing but gold. Hope this helps.
Good on you mate. Yep, with the price of gold these days every spec certainly counts. Well done.

Classification is also key to separating the fine gold from black sands. Having all materials of a classified equal size allows a gentler water flow to work its magic with just enough flow & angle of the table to wash off the lighter particles leaving the heavier gold behind. If not classified to equal size, mass, then you need a greater flow to wash on the bigger waste material. That greater flow allows the smaller finer gold to get washed on through as well.

Yeah that’s pretty cool Westlander .. looks like it works great.. tell me what is the base pad material out of ? Just flashing material or something else ? Yeah JW definitely classifying material out is a must for black sand .. I learnt that one the hard way !
Some quality content there .
I notice the off the shelf option has a (probably left over) strip of miners moss under the water spreading out plate. I think that would be very easy to get a nice uniform flow through
Hi Mal, aluminum sheet, painted mat black, blackboard paint is best apparently. Slightly dull surface is what you going for.
How about a little shaker table?

Latest effort using old school sluice with miners moss and expanded metal. Guessing just over a gram. Gold price going totally crazy.
With spring upon us I have been taking advantage of getting into thrashed spots while the winter has knocked back grass growth & made otherwise hard to detect areas to get into easier & able to poke & prod the coil into places otherwise inaccessible. I have noticed recently the lawns at home have been coming to life & need mowing every 2nd weekend now. Bugger.
Anyway, here is the result for a few hours afternoon detecting yesterday. GPX 6000 & the Coiltek 10x5 Goldhawk coil.
Same deal a couple of sundays ago. With gold at around $220 a gram
it adds up.

Finally got out for a play this weekend as the weather decided to play ball on the west coast…
@Mal apparently I missed you by a day at Moonlight. A shame I wasn’t a little earlier, would have been nice to meet you in person.
Nice Gav. Why does it look more than .89?

Good effort Westlander. A gram in 3 hours is not to be sneezed at. Ye ha.

Are you using your laptop / phone underwater? Things always look bigger underwater ![]()
That’s true but you scales & gold aren’t under water in your pic. Still looks more than .89 of a gram.
I need to get out this arvo & see what I can get for a few hours. Its been a couple of weekends.
