Their website is confusing - I emailed them late last month and here is their reply…
Thank you for your enquiry.
As the Crown Minerals Amendment Bill has not yet passed into law, there are not currently ‘tier 3’ permits. Currently, ‘hobby’ sale permits are still tier-2 gold mining permits, beholden to the same fees and application process as any other tier-2 gold mining permit.
Should the Crown Minerals Amendment Bill pass, new guidance, including information around fees and the application process, will be released to give guidance around obtaining a tier-3 mining permit.
