Some amazing returns there - United Italy recovered 4.415 ounces per ton - Break of Day 5.286 ounces per ton - Tyrconnell 8.37 ounces per ton but the dividends paid by the Alpine United are most impressive.
Well Keith you have indeed made a most miraculous discovery. You have discovered the true site of Hobbitville which up until now had never been discovered. I see many dollars coming your way when you start your latest venture. "Kiwi Keith Tours of the Original âHobbitvilleâ. Sadly your impending wealth may somewhat eroded when DOC discover, it is on their land and you have to pay many dollars for a concession.
I wonder if the analysis would be similar to the upper glass eye specimens. Interesting that the gold of the lower glass eye was worth less. Different. I will try to find the values.
hi northwest
interesting your mention of upper and lower glasseye creek. I know there was workings down from the road bridge, as the old road came up from the coast it headed up the valley4th down from the main bridge on the true left it went up and over a saddle and into corbvale.i have tried to get down to the creek but it requires sum deep water crossings and you have to go through a tight gorge. it was in the roar so had the rifle with me and looking for a stag didnât really want to get wet.
I have mention on previous posts about the upper glasseye up from the bridge . the track has been reopened up the glasseye and over the saddle into the ruff and tumble
E1525478 N5408377 is the end of the track. this is about 100m from the ruff and tumble. the stamper is 200m down stream on the true right and the mine on the true left.
I did not realize there is gold in the upper glasseye
Sorry Keith was meaning below the bridge in terms of upper. By lower I meant not far up from the mouth of the Glass Eye. South side, true left.
I think I may have posted these before
I reckon that they are test holes located on a terrace true right just down from the bridge. swung the gold bug over them but nothing. found sum old water piping not far.So the Glass Eye specimens found in the past below the bridge are probably aorere series from southwards so therefore probably the same? as Britannia etc. I havenât looked into elevation of the rough and tumble drive compared to the elevation of above. And back more your side Keith,it seems there has been platinum found historically to different degrees.
Smithsbookshop.co.nz have it in stock mate.$60 I think
Having a deep interest in Archaeology I will include the fact in my definitive book on the West Coast Mining History that there are large numbers of deep holes up on the Pakihi terraces.
These deep holes, contrary to the misguided opinions of historians who had been bribed by the locals to state that they are mine exploratory holes, are in fact a testimony to the fact that the diets of the early miners were so rugged that they were full of shit and as a consequence the digging of large numbers of long drops occupied a great deal of their times as is evident by the large number still in existence - in short - these holes are in fact Long Drops and not mine holes. They guaranteed that the miners were never âcaught shortâ while wandering around.
I can easily prove this point because in many cases if a stone is dropped down them they often take a long time to get to the bottom thus conclusively proving that they are indeed âLong Drops.â Further proof that they are Long Drops is evident in the fact that while wandering around on the Pakihi Terraces in 1970, at a place called Totara Flat - One pub, the âHeather Bellâ, a School - believe it or not, a Forestry Camp and a few houses I nearly fell down one of these holes - If I had indeed fallen down then I sure would have been in the Shit! Now that must prove a point!
the ones I found were 3 in a row . about 2m deep . since I said deep and not long way down im calling mine âdeep holeâ. I didnât get in them so I stayed out of the shit.
there are sum people that work in the back country that go to huts and dig âlong dropsâ. they seem to work mainly for doc so are naturally full of shit . most holes are full before they leave. now if they had dug a deep hole and fell in they would find them selves in deep shit, sum times I find myself in the same situation with out even falling down a deep hole.
I have been on the front lawn of the beehive looking for both long drops and deep holes (very hard to tell apart) they must be there sum where as the people seem to talk a lot of it who work up there.
im sure lammerlaw can give out a few more details on this subject. im just so full of it that my views are abit one sided
It is rather a paradox about DoC and Long Drops - It is also very very easy to prove that DoC employees are full of shit - after all doesnt DoC mean Department of Constipation?
âBLACK DOGâ back again
