Custom fabricated HDPE flares / floats and powerjets

Not sure how many people are only on here and not Facebook

Shouldnt need to explain how much better hdpe is compared to rotomoulded
And its UV proof for ever

Ive made a few flares
Bout $700 for a 6 inch
4 inch and 5 well cheap
Custom no problem
Pretty self explanatory

Looking into making floats from 6 mm sheet.
Any shape you want up to 1500 perimeter and 3000 long
8.6 kg per meter of length (at 1500 perimeter)

Ill make my own ones hexagon . 250mm sides 433 across flats
162 kg / litre of displacement per meter

Round pontoon is more flotation
Square and rectangular are less flotation for same weight .

Slash cut the front under 45deg

2.5m long topside would have 680kg of displacement and weigh under 20kg per side

My own twin engine and sump 5 inch still floats fine with me on it with only 480 kg of displacement and way heavier floats

Probably around $1000 for a pair long as long a inch dredge

Making plastic powerjets . 152 id and 14mm wall thickness. Not sure how long these last compared to the off the shelf option (that only last 2 seasons)but looking for people to trial them .
As many or few nozzles as you want .
Could be bigger or smaller .
Usually 25mm OD stainless nozzle .
Removable and replaceable/ tunable
Tune the wall thickness to increase or decrease the velocity. Probably stick with 1mm . This has a lot of energy and maintains 38 psi pressure on a p180 on a gx200

Not sure where the line lies on business or contributors and “advertising” on this forum
Someone will tell me .
This is mostly a hobby level.
If it ends up being serious then ill be more serious

Based in chch. Frequent the coast .

First attempt .
Will change to twin side fines sluices because clean up with one on top is too much effort

No frame at all . Just stomp 90 mm cross pipes into sectioned 110mm pipe

Examples of other stuff.
Seams of pontoons will be cut 3/4mm depth then folded then filled in with a bead higher than surface in both directions.

Can probably modify or repair any existing stuff. Mainly water tanks and calf feeders .

Will also be selling my current shotgun. Floats. They are indestructible. About 8 mm thick .
Bit heavy but i can get them on the van roof myself.
I can drag my whole dredge over rapids by myself
Could put flat plates for mounts on them
Or you can have some pipes i use for cross bars
Keene motor plates slot into slots
250x500 mm 2.5 long

DO NOT CALL THAT NUMBER people

Cheers .Been lurking here a while.
Ha i had to try hide that photo cos someone rung my dad up .
Can you try crop it or scribble on it . No real drama

Ah shit my bad mate heres a different pic  Looking forward to testing mine out this season

Interest has been expressed in some super light floats made from 3mm sheet.
Will fold them into 375mm square .
Any length up to 3m .
Comparable to the off the shelf green option. Will make the front pointed like the previously mentioned green option .

4.3 kg per meter . 140kg of displacement

These can be pretty bloody cheap

Also about to build a 6 inch crash box. For someone so ill post a few pics of that at some stage .

Any other heaps cool ideas just ask the question

How do you think an old school ventury would last. Suitcase/submersible dredge design? Id be pretty keen to try one.

Same! i have a few can model off if need be

Do you mean a suction nozzle ? . Or can you send me a Picture/ example of what you’re thinking of .

Or the whole dredge.
My nozzle on my power jet 5 inch is a off the shelf formed bend . Its not feasible to make the 180 bend for the pressure side from pe but the actual housing could be OK

Yep, iv attached a couple examples. But itd would be interesting to try build a whole unit. I have more photos of my own and ideas for the other equipment.
Being submersible it could have issues around buoyancy but that may not matter submerged and running.
Message me if you are interested in discussing👍

Any bits and bobs for sale by chance? Im always looking for submersible dredge equipment

Yea apologies i didnt realize the emails replied to this forum post and private messages .

I believe most of the stuff is .955 sg so yea its boyant but wont take much to sink .
Yea we can discuss further. Im in it for the thinking and “better” solutions

Sorry, all mine are in use on different dredges…im wanting to add more to my fleet ha! I use 5inch intake, 6inch hose on all mine and they go hard

Haha nice! Iv got a complete 6 setup and just need a box and hoses for the 4. I like the idea of a lighter setup though, just for transporting into tough spots. Love submersibles :+1:

6 inch crash box that someone wanted made. They have 100x the experience i do so i wont argue the crash box v flate debate
Yet to fully weld box seams

A lot of effort going into float design / construction method. Stay tuned

Will be irregular octogon shaped . 275 flats and 100 bevels . 416 across flats . Massive boyancy.
Folded with one seam. Just working on making the pointy end styley

Box now with weld on every seam .
Its 95% pretty . 100% fit for purpose .
Still has plastic film on the sides etc (the white shit you can see the edges of )
6 mm everwhere. 12mm on the two faces that rocks hit .
6 10 12 15 20 are common . Well ,up to 50 mm thickness is purchasable but thats getting carried away

Design for bow of float .

Entirely designed in in chat gtp and spat out cut files . Wasted a few days doing it as curves and itd pack a shit even though they shold have been only been single curve panels .
Use chatgpt on a real computer. They dont get as disctracted as ya phone when doing multiple steps

7 folds and Weld one seam the whole length and join the edges of the bow
Mounts can be a nice plate that overhangs the beveld corners

No join or fold perpendicular to flow at transition from flat panel to curves. As this is extra work and the first part to wear through in use

Nice exponential curve then straight edges to point

Irregular octogan. Because easy folding . Greater flotation and bonus its easier to drag sideways when you have to ha ha

The other 6 inch powerjet i just finished . Couldnt remember if id posted the first one up or not.
This one is getting 16hp shoved up it so will run full bore in the jets thats 25mm / inch as opposed to a stainless jet nozzles that are 23mm ish inside

Hansen male male reducers have a perfect radius / bell mouth into the correct ID

Holes from jets coming out better and better.

178 mm sleeve on the inlet to connect to the common option steel sleeve onna 6 inch hose

Arts n crafts . Glue stick definitely tastes worse than i remember

Today’s arts n crafts.
