Where should I start looking for it?

Pax, lots of good advice being offered to you here, but sounds like you have caught the bug already, this can be tricky as all your thoughts are now being consumed by the gold coloured shiny stuff, where to find it, how to find it, ways and means to get mooore😊… more commonly know as “gold fever” can be tricky to cure but this suggestion could help…watch every season of discoverys “gold rush” and the spin off series from the beginning, admittedly a some what harrowing task, but by the end of you will have the best understanding of the many pitfalls, fails, fortune had, lost (remembering it a show designed to entertain and generate views so there’s alot of unnecessary F… ups…it is suggested for education purposes only😉) with out getting your feet wet…and if that doesn’t cure the bug, throw caution to the wind and come down south for a prospecting summer holiday to get your hands dirty and feet wet, as you can see lots of people on here very keen to share their knowledge with you…

damn… So that’s the gold fever everyone’s talking about…
I watched so many videos on youtube about people looking for and finding gold around the world and especially in NZ…
I’ll come down in November and try to meet some people… Watching videos only gets you so far… Hands on experience and talking to people gets you further…

Hi All, I’m new to the paydirt community. I am in the getting my hands wet, ‘having a go’, going bush, doing my research, and buying a few toys stage. I’m in Tauranga, so Waihi, and the Coromandel are closest but I do have family in Motueka and further south. I have aspirations of bringing technology (my work background) into this long term hobby, and have gone a bit rabbit holey into detector technology over the last few years. I have looked at PAM, DoC and posts in various forums. My first question to the masses is, are there any restrictions on who can work a claim? As the claim owner can you engage, employ, share, etc your rights to another, or are you on your own? and secondly (to stay on thread topic), where do you gold tragics meet, connect and share in NZ beyond paydirt… ie is it easy to find like minded friends or more ‘you’re on your own mate’ cut your own path?

As been said on here heaps go to the public fossicking areas you will get to have a go at finding some and meeting like minded people i have always come across awesome people and reading through the topics here will give you heaps of yhe information your chasing

Same way you buy it, convert it to fiat then straight back into your bank if you want to pay tax on it.
There’s many ways to spend crypto without the government’s intervention, the easiest way is just spend it with a crypto Visa card. You can even exchange crypto for physical gold now thanks to blockchains like paxos.
Fiat is dead anyway give it another year and we will be going the same way as Australia with no cash in the banks so it’s good to prepare for the inevitable
