I found an article from 1886-ish that people found gold in Waitakere… But not much info on where and if it was actually gold there…
Anybody knows more?

Can’t say I have ever heard of it. I kind of wondered if the Waitakere’s were similar to the Coromandel ranges geology but I think it is a different volcanics & that the Waitaks lack the gold ingredient. Can’t say I have seen quartz in the Waitak creeks either.
