Nugget shape looks highly unusual to me. Suspicious even. I saw this listing you may be interested in: Gold Nugget 2.3 grams Trade Me

If its real i bet it came off someones claim

The weirdest bit is that some parts look very smooth (had to have been in a waterway for a long time if natural) yet there are inconsistent features and angles all over that wouldn’t be there if that were the case

So years ago I tried to melt some fine gold in spud ,turned out looking similar , I’m not convinced

You really can’t assume as it was apparently over 30 years ago that he found them. He has a 100% positive feedback.

Yer, I kind of agree & that is the issue. He reckons he put them in a high concentration of nitric acid & then quickly removed them. My believe is that nitric acid doesn’t eat the gold but only other impurities with any host rock getting delt with. That is how a lot of guys in Aussie deal with gold quartz speci bits to eat out the iron stone & host rock to clean them up & make them more pretty. Hydrofluoric acid I believe will put gold into solution. Actually, now I have said that it might be Aqua Regia acid that does that which I think is a mixture of hydrofluoric acid & nitric acid. But I could be wrong there too. Anyway, nasty stuff. Then he said he wire brushed them to shine them up. They are a bit odd to say the least.

Does have that look to it. I wonder if it isn’t melted down scrap jewellery with that copper content & the way it is in there & its general pale, silver content, colour over all.

Id have to agree jw ,i seen them an all his nuggets look strange in color and shape but then he has perfect feedback . I guess the only way to know is have them tested ? I am in chch an was gonna ask to view them but now they have bids someone’s gonna buy them regardless.

Got offered stuff like that in Central African Republic back in the 80s. Bro says buy it. Sceptical I cut it in half with my knife. Mercury almalgam.
