The West Coast Gold Rush

The West Coast gold rush was initially focussed on areas rich in alluvial gold around Hokitika. As it developed it moved further north and inland as gold-bearing reefs were discovered in the Grey River/Mawheranui, Buller and Inangahua valleys.
