Hi Digahole,
Clint from Trade me. Thanks for the site ref. Ill take a look around and try and find a rental.

How has your experience been with yours? We are looking to hit a few old tailings, river banks and farm areas that have claims on them. We have allready gained permission and access.

Good from an easy to operate perspective. Portability great. Waterproof a plus, dont need to worry about wet weather. Checked it against targets located with my other detector, very similar. Only downside i could point out would be due to the coil shape circular, it can be at times difficult to get the coil into cracks and crevices.

Hi Digahole,
Sorry about the 100 questions.
What other detector(s) do you have?
Did you take the SDC over to the west coast? Interested in knowing if Im on the right track. Using it in heavy soils?

Thanks Again,

Yes, only ever used it on the west coast…being a pulse induction machine always seemed to balance quite well. If used in say the Arrow river with high amount of black sand, I would imagine that you might have to reduce the sensitivity level to get smooth threshold but can say for certain as i never used it there.

I ran it on sensitivity 4 as where detect there isnt any iron trash, only the odd green(dont know what they are) hot rock that gives a response but are easily identified by sight and ignored. The other detector I run is an old gpx4500.

It really depends on what you want to spend and the pros vs cons of the various detectors your looking at…generally ive always found there is a compromise of one sort or another, ie the control box of the Gpx 4500 is not waterproof if i slip and dunk it most likely its stuffed.
