cool hunt topped by cosmos gold,plenty o coins two british widow head coins most interesting was a pin made in germany with the german imperial eagle insignia ,also what i think is a horse bit or part of.good luck

Good finds and yes it is part of a Snaffle type horse bit. I have that type horse bit on the pull start of my old quad bike as the plastic or rubber handle broke off - its a bastard when the compression pulls it out of your hand.

No because these type bits have been around since Adam was a cowboy but I would say really old is it is well weathered and the other half is missing…broken or rusted off. Most were/are nickle plated
