all sorts of comments on this one. around 13k AUD in 6 months time and apparently Oz not a priority. 2.1 kg and totally waterproof to 3m is what I like

Looks quite similar in basic design to Minelab’s latest offerings. I look forward to hearing how it performs.

My mate bought an AlgoForce recently. I love their philosophy about providing the bare bones and letting you choose your own coil and battery packs to use rather than locking you in to their own gear. Still need to head out with him and see how well it does next to my GPX 6000. I’m hoping it gives some good competition.

Think your safe with your 6000 Gavin. A mate of mine was a very early adopter of the Algo. They seem to have lost a bit of traction, but the price is very good for someone stepping into pulse induction. All be it a bit behind a minelab but of course you pay a lot more for a minelab. The good thing is they take the minelab coils.
The price of the new Nokta is up there too.

I was hoping the Algo turns out to be really good so I can sell my more expensive GPX 6000 and swap it out for the Algo instead :stuck_out_tongue:

No Gav. The 6000 is better than the Algo. It has been proven, although I have been told it handles black sand very well. But at its price point it is a good PI starter detector but not as good as the 6000. The Algo has been out for a while now. Maybe do a bit of a google search on it & check out some forums & face book. Here’s an example.

I don’t know if you know of Nenad John Lonic, Owner operator of Phase Technical. He developed the SPO1 audio Enhancer & was also involved in the development of the AlgoForce 1500. It cost him his dealership with Minelab.

You could most likely just get the control box & if you still have an earlier model GPX, coils & shaft, you are good to go once you sort out a battery pack.

If the GPX 6000 is superior, I’ll simply stick with what I have

I’d heard from my mate who purchased the Algo that it was actually developed by a ex-Minelab engineer so was pretty good.

Keen to head out with my mate and see just how well it compares out in the field.

Yes, an ex Minelab Engineer & Nenad. Can’t get a better idea than comparing out in the field. The 9 inch coiltek goldhawk coil gets a good rap on the Algo. Let us know how it goes. My mate has stopped using his in favour of the 6000. He has also been using his GM 2000. Last Saturday we went out to a well flogged area. He vmanaged 7 bits for .03 of a gram. I was using my 6000 with coiltek 10x5 goldhawk coil & also got 7 bits, but they were .58 of a gram. Plus 50 odd bloody pellets. They are the ones I pocketed, but I threw a heap away as well.

My son who lives in Brisbane went with a mate detecting up in Clermont for 4 days. Managed 8 grams with the GM 2000. Nothing with his Zed & 12" NF coil.

My other son who still lives in Waihi has taken all of April off work to go murder some stags during the roar, with his bow & arrow.
