Hi i am just learning i was wondering if anyone can tell me can i do fossicking and a river slice around haast i don’t want to break any rules im just a beginner.
We are moving to haast in 2 weeks.
Legally speaking you can only look for gold & remove it, be it with a sluice box or any other hand methods, in the designated public fossicking areas. Unless you get or have access to a claim. None of which are overly near to Haast. The South Westland rivers wasn’t renowned for good gold. Bit of very fine black beach sand gold at best.
You will need to travel up the coast a bit.
