Miners one step closer to finding the mother lode

Gold exploration at Ohakuri, half way between Rotorua and Taupō, has produced encouraging results.
In March, Australian mining company Larvotto Resources began its own search for gold under farmland near Ohakuri (about halfway between Rotorua and Taupō), building on previous research going back to the early 1970s.

Larvotto Resources managing director Ron Heeks said initial test results confirmed “positive gold geochemistry results” and “epithermal gold textures observed in shallow drill cuttings highlight likelihood of a nearby gold system”.
