I’ve been interested for years now on the old art of chasing the gold by digging shafts and tunnels as the old timers did. It seems to have been long forgotten about but I believe if you could find a seem It could be not only viable but a lot of fun. To get a claim on a river or creek these days is hard to say the least. The mountains in my opinion have the mother load just sitting there waiting. It’s a whole other ball game and hard work but it’s not prospecting if it’s not hard work. Small scale hard rock prospecting and mining. Has anyone else been interested in this?

I guess with todays modern machinery it’s made that method a bit obsolete? Especially with considering the risks of getting buried.
Not to mention the legal aspect of doing that & the cost factor. Not your hobbyist kind of thing. Then you have to mine it & process it which all cost time & money. You would need at least an ounce a ton minimum from what I have heard.
