Happy New Year yourself and may it be filled with lots of colour! ![]()
Got a couple small bits detecting yesterday. Pretty embracing really, but hey, wasn’t a skunk.![]()
I checked the Lidar out last night. Pretty cool but lots of places are not covered. Was a cool fly over though checking spots out. I came across what you showed & I never realised the extent of the workings in that area. I am more familiar with the Nasby end of Danseys Pass around the hotel area & the Kyeburn & little Kyeburn heading up to Mt Buster & Diggers Peak, from when I hung out with Allan Dunford who has been gone for 13 years now. How time flies.
Suns out so I best head out to find some more tiddlers.

Yeah, definitely a mixed bag regarding which areas have good resolution with the LiDAR imagery.
Good to hear you got a few bits. Wish I lived a bit closer to the gold so I could get out more. Still waiting for the rivers to drop a bit before having a play. Been a bit too wet so far ![]()
Have you used Detector maps app? You can use multiple layers, lidar, claims, watercourses etc.. very good
I’m aware of the app, but not tried it yet. I’ll give it a good go next time I head over the ditch for a play.
It works for nz too, but yes its kindof only worth it for aussie since itd be hard to do any research there as the areas are so massive, atleast here you can pick an area and pretty much know all its history in an hour or 2 of googling/maps
I’m not too keen to pay for NZ at this time as I can’t imagine it adds much value over what’s already freely available online.
is this how it looks from your phone ? mine doesn’t look so sharp
It largely depends on the area you’re looking at. A lot of Otago doesn’t have great detail, but east Danseys Pass is a good example.
Yep, as I found out. Pretty cool when it does though.
