Found this set up on my travels through unclaimed doc estate. What do people on here think, brave rebel or thieving mongrel? I’m putting it in the none of my business file and move right along.

Given the price of gold will probably see more of this. I don’t interfere with others, but big risk leaving this gear out in the bush these days. Im nervous just stashing a box, shovel and bucket over night.

As Gavzilla said they could be testing a creek before they claim it. But more than likely they poaching. I understand with the price of gold being high and the cost of living high. Still no excuse tho. Tier 3 permit prices are not to bad now so really no excuse. If I found this on a section of river I had started the process of putting a claim on id burn it then set camera up . No doubt this be on the West Coast I guess? A claim I have permission on has been poached a lot but claim owner has put cameras up and will be prosecuting at the full extent of the law.

Yep, trail cams are worth their weight in gold. If someone wants to risk their neck poaching they are a very silly person these days. I think with prices this high anyone claim jumping shouldn’t be expecting any pleasantries. As for DOC, at your own risk, better off going about it the right way. As mentioned the new claim permits are pretty cheap considering the price. Use your head people
When I’m anywhere looking for garnets I make sure its got no claim, I just know how id be if forked out money for claim and got there and someone’s on it. On American claim I got access too found some gear there. Just left a note saying I here legally and would be probaly upset if your not. Burn someone’s stuff sounds a bit harsh worst thing after burning stuff ya will get back to ya vechucle one day 4 flat tires or worse, if ya gonna start a war pays go it to face.
Had heaps of trouble with dope growers when possuming over yrs best thing I’ve found is leave em a note saying where ya traps are and telling em ya got no interest in there dope never had any trouble since. Came out one time massive branch under one wiper 100 note under other and 2 speight on my bonnet. On a day when ya really felt like a beer.
