So im tidying up some farm tracks in central otago on a river terrace that was a known to have gold i was wondering what the best tips were to identifying areas best to have a pan for some placer gold has a lot aluvial rocks along the track but only a few tiny specs in the pan soo far

Test wherever you are digging on bedrock. Where streams/ water ways cut across or through Au bearing gravels. Where the bigger rocks are in the deposit…on top of any clay lenses …where the sands are rusting or appear particularly dark. Where you are finding the fine Au look for concentrations derived from the fine Au bearing deposit.
Where is this farm you speak of. Just general area, not exact location.
