Greetings, new to NZ

Recently relocated from from the US and am now in Northland. I’ve been out detecting twice (found two NZ pennies and a half penny, and a GB penny (1917)). The NZ coins are from the late 40’s - early 50’s. No silver yet, but I’ll get there.

I’m a little nervous, not being well versed on the laws. I’ve been in detecting in small parks, am always careful about refilling holes, not damaging lawns, etc. There a few local schools (pre-1900) that I’d really like to detect at, but I gather those sites are off limits. Is that right?

Any tips on places that are generally safe or those that need to be avoided?

Thanks!
