I have a question about the DW180 pump (Chinese model). Has anyone here used it, and how did it perform?
I’m also a bit confused about the flow rate — in some places I see it listed at around 180 GPM, while on the manufacturer’s website it says closer to 300 GPM. Does anyone know the real output?
I’ve read that, but the Chinese manufacturers told me their pump delivers around 300 GPM. Knowing that some of their products can be lower quality, I wanted to see how it actually performs in real-world use.
Basically, I’m trying to save money, because a Keene Engineering or Proline pump that costs around $750 ends up costing almost double by the time it arrives in Serbia. So I’m not sure whether it’s worth ordering a Chinese pump.
If you start with the cheaper Chinese pump & it sucks & does its job & you are on to some gold, then the money you make from your gold you can then buy what you really want. Gold is all about making money for you, isn’t it? What’s your experience in dredging?
You are in Europe, gotcha. The DW 180’s are a good, affordable centrifugal pump, but yes, you’ll pay a lot higher premium for a “fantastic” Proline pump.
I’ve heard the Keene pumps aren’t that flash nowadays, despite them being very-pricey. Horses for courses I guess
I accidentally came across a store in Germany last night that imports Proline, Keene, and other dredging and gold prospecting equipment. I contacted them, and it turns out it would be more cost-effective for me to buy the pump through them.
So I’ve decided to go with Proline, but now I have another question. I have a Honda GX200 engine with the following specifications:
Thanks everyone for the replies. I’ve ordered the Proline HP400. I’ll just need to make some modifications to the engine and crankshaft since it doesn’t perfectly match the pump, but I’ll sort that out along the way.
Now I’m moving on to building a highbanker and a suction nozzle. There might be a few more questions later on, but we’ll deal with that when the time comes.
