Just fill it with water / chuck some rocks in bottom to keep it in place. Big enough to fit under / over the end of a small sluicebox. Works with my 4” Keene well.
Are you talking after you have rolled up & removed all the mats & just washing out what’s left in the box? Gosh, there shouldn’t be much that you cant improvise or adapt to do the job. What size sluice box you talking of, can’t you just manoeuvre it in to calmer more sheltered shallow water? Maybe you are over thinking it.
Yes mainly for washing out the box after mats are out but could also hold the bin while i wash the mats in it so i dont have to fully repositon the dredge (saving time)
Once i take the mats out of my dredge (5 “ proline single) it sits nose down so is very hard to kneel and keep weight on the back hold the bin and still wash the cons down.
Im pretty handy and have some ideas but want to see what other people have come up with before i reinvent the wheel.
Im pretty sure there are some sneaky tricks people have come up with that both of us would like to see.
Like a bin with with the front cut out and some hooks that clips to the rear handle.
Could just start the dredge up and wash it out etc.
Could use it to catch and test the cons if you use a clean up type sluice in you box etc.
hey i run a proline 5 and a le trap fits nicely inside the box , is awesome for clean ups , I drop the revs right back and feed cons in top , dosnt take long to get rid of most the rubbish , ill sort rest out at home or back at camp , the le trap really is handy
Cheers weeby yes i do the same, i have the smaller le trap (wish i had bought the big or medium one) which is a little harder to set up nice in there with rocks to weigh it down as she has a few cracks from good use haha. Also have a 10” river sluice with dream mat in it and that does a sweet job too.
Its more cleaning it out the box on my own i was hoping to find some tips on and stream line. Its not a biggie but a bit here and a bit there gets you out of there faster!
Does yours sit nose heavy with no mats in making the final clean out harder on your own?
What i do works but it would be cool to make it smoooooooth!!!
What have you done up front in your box? Ive cut some of the carpet out to get some gold hog/miricle mat up there so i can see what im getting, but the water is getting underneith and jiggling it around and cons are ending ip underneith. Again its not a biggie but im not happy with it.
Just throwing it out there as can only imagine your situation. If the front end is dipping on you maybe an inflated motorcycle or car tyre tube to slip under the front to lift it might work, other option is weighing down the back but that’s harder on gear etc. But Iv used tyre tubes for similar situations before and they are great.
yip there def nose heavy with out a good flow going thru them , i put a few rocks on it as well , ive got a strip of rubber V mat maybe 10 inches wide right at the front of my box lets me see whats happening , thats under expanded mesh over spaghetti mat , then back mat is woven carpet type stuff , it catches some pretty fine gold considering the amount of water going over it , my clean ups wouldnt be more the 15 mins , i have vety little black sand on my claim.
