Dillmanstown tailings

An easy look see just off the old Dillmanstown Kumara road. Massive stone stacks from the sludge channels that emptied into the Teremakau river. This was material from the gold fields on the other side of the highway.

Well worth a stop to check them out. Also Londondery Rock

Those rock piles were stacked up by an elevator. Very similar to the elevators on the back of the bucket dredges. There certainly are mountains of them there & Londondery rock is pretty impressive alright. A big glacial erratic. I wonder how far that had travelled from its source back in the day
