Dahlke Micro 4B

Do they still make Dahlke Micro4b dredges. Anyone have one and can comment on them?

Not currently, Erich will still make pumps if I ask him but it takes a while, could probably get the bodies sent over here and start making them myself as he’s given me all the engineering docs for pumps and all sorts but it’s to small a market here to worry about.
I got his last container load of 2b/4b sets and 6” dredges before he moved.
Might consider selling my modified 4b soon if interest is high enough, it’s very powerful as it’s oversized pump so you can run the dredge on 1/4 throttle and not go deaf and it’s still peaceful in the river. 70kg for the whole set up so it’s packable into the hardest to reach spots.

I’d be keen on your modified 4b how much would you be willing to part with it

They are similar price to buying a 4” Keene from the states landed here, by the time you add the larger pump it’s not much different honestly, and for a dredge that will never be produced again I’d be hard pressed to sell it cheap, it’s the lightest and most versatile creek dredge there is.

So why are they no longer made? If they were good you think they would keep on keeping on.

The original owner died, the only other person left who knew how to make the pumps which is really what dahlke is famous for has moved and is no longer interested in running a business.

I was given the opportunity to start here but We just don’t have the viability here or the affordable engineering required to produce the pumps at a marketable price and only one forge was willing to look but with no guarantee of accuracy.

Unfortunately there have been many good companies over the years that have stopped trading mining equipment and taken their skills out of the market, maybe one day someone will kick it off again?

Thank you Gav. That explains it. I didn’t realise. Yes, pretty small market in NZ.

Cheers
