What’s everyone’s view on the categories setup, do we need more?
A lot of people on the old forums didn’t use the categories very well so I’m not sure how intuitive / useful they are. Maybe we need some active moderators who just tidy up badly categorised topics? When you gain level 3 trust level on this site (just happens naturally if you’re a good user) you get that ability anyway.
We don’t need sub-categories for everything, the parent category can always act as a catch-all for topics that don’t fit neatly into the sub-categories.
But I’m open to experimentation - we can add categories if a few people think they’re useful. If they don’t seem to be that popular we can move the topics to another category and close the sub-category down afterwards.
