Bloody wicked gav. I know a picture tells a thousand words but come on mate. You have to tell the yarn now, & no holding back. I didn’t know you had done this. Is this where “The Sluicer” has gone? I saw a clickbait of him in the Yukon come up on my youtube feed. I didn’t watch it as I struggle with him a bit. I would much rather hear it from you. ![]()
Had to laugh at the pic of you guys in the “dining room” tent. Every body else in gumboots & you in your croc’s. I laugh, because I am in my croc’s. ![]()
I have relented & got myself a Manticore & have the M8 coil on its way to me. Just about to head out with the 6000. Have a nice day here in QT at the moment. Weather has been a bit yuk.

ive heard they dig a few up so cool , be interesting going fossicking when they roamed the planet
Great pics Gav! Heard you went their last year. I agree a yarn or two would be cool ![]()
I’m guessing the screws poking out of hut cladding (and revolver), are to deter bears from tearing up the hut (or humans)?
Thanks for sharing pics mate ![]()

Daniel Gerber was kind enough to invite me on a trip with his friends up Northern Alaska. We flew a few hours north from Fairbanks into the middle of nowhere to hit a claim he has access too. And yep, those nails in the window covers are to discourage the bears. That building was at the remote airstrip we flew into with all our supplies. Borrowed a few quads to get everything to our camping spot closer to the gold. We always had our bear spray handy! Was an awesome adventure, though we didn’t cover the costs ![]()
After we flew back to Fairbanks, my mate Vlad picked me up for a short road trip around Alaska and then over the border into Canada to hit his claim near Dawson’s city. It was a lot of fun having a play on the big toys giving him a hand. Pretty cool, you see people from the Gold Rush shows wandering around town. And yep, that’s a mammoth tusk he dug up.
Just had a look on The Sluicers channel, and yeah, looks like he was around Dawson City too as I recognise the big old beast of a dredge in the background you can get guided tours around.
One of the grizzlies we saw around Russian River where Vlad took me Salmon fishing:
There was an old couple nearby so I was confident I could outrun them, if not the bear ![]()
Cool Gav. Need more though. ![]()

LOL, I’m not as good at story sharing as you mate
Happy to fill in more details if you have more questions though ![]()
