it is soft, scratches with a fingernail, scratched with a sharp rock and it turned to powder, can write like a pencil on paper. No smell. Not very heavy. shiny like gun metal. Does anyone know what it is? Found in vicinity of an old mining area
It will be a mica shist. Pretty much the most common mineral in the world. Better know as leveright. As in leave er right f’n there. Not worth anything

Cheers for that…it has a hardness of 2 and density of 1.8 g/cm…so not a schist. I’ve done a bit of google research and I think it’s anthracite…also called shudnebutherd. As in shouldn a bothered picking it up haha
