Champion gridding there MW. did you grid both directions?

Yer, rarely get down that way so hit it with everything I had. One junk copper ring, '46 shilling, couple of dollars and a swag of sinkers up to 12oz. Pleasantly devoid of aluminium and boating chaff

And to get back on topic - It was a cracker morning.

Lining up for a hunt this weekend…

There is a kid with some cheap detector (10" coil) son of surfing teacher, goes there on Saturdays.
I detected right down to the low tide, but if anything is under the sand it will be below 45cm, I might dig myself a test hole when I’m next out, see whats down there :grinning:

Every now and then I’ll pull a 30’s penny from there but to be honest I normally give it a miss fingers crossed this rain band passes overnight so I can hit a new spot

Looking like it’ll be mostly past us by sunrise - topping up the batteries now

Lots of rain & wind.

Never knew but King Tides only occur at Summer Solstice, during the Winter tides are not extremely low or high.

Thats a pretty weather site
I’m not happy with rain & wind, makes kayaking troublesome :hugs:

Touch paper has been lit

Hopefully Auntie Oma will visit and rearrange some beaches - Just hope it has a few days of lesser rain beforehand to soften the blow, or there could possibly be some serious flooding issues.

Here’s the ultra-long range forecast - not based on any scientific merit whatsoever (that stops up near New Caledonia)

Jaysus !!!

Long, long way out and much can change, but I’m actually hoping this doesn’t pan out… (The Wahine storm had pressures down to 970 for comparison)

That looks like doom, gloom and bye bye Auckland and Northland…also probably one heck of a lot more accurate than Dan Corbetts Channel one Weather report which is most obviously drawn from the lottery basket.

I always get disappointed with forecasts these days. They tend to be worst case scenarios that never eventuate. I’m forever hoping for a massive flood to stir things up on the gold front.

I hope you are right.
Bring on global warming & that lovely hot weather!

Although I find Dan quite professional your Wright about the forecasting he’s a bit better than the :poop:in the morning when it comes to cyclones I use tropical storm risk pretty accurate tracking… That and look at the sky the last good one to hit up here dawn was the colour of a black Dorris plum

Here’s some beach porn for the Aucklanders (savvy hunters will find useful intel for future hunts ), Rothesay Bay, after the big storm in November 1998…
