Where To Metal Detect for Gold?

Hi Everyone, I’m wondering are you only allowed to metal detect for gold in the public fossicking areas? What about the unclaimed areas? Thanks

In this country only in the fossicking areas. You have to remember that New Zealand has become a slave/police state and it wont be long before you have to wear a meter and pay for the air you breath!

So yes you can only look in a fossicking area - BUT no one can stop you looking for lost rings, coins etc as long as it is not in a historic Department of Constipation administered site or a site that predates 100 years or thereabouts.
