Golden Bay goldpanning opportunities?

Hi Everyone,I am heading to Golden Bay 31st May, and will be based at Te Hapu, not far from the Mangarakau swamp area.
Does anyone have any reports of any luck they’ve had up that way, whether it is worthwhile to bring my pan and shovel?
I am very well aware of the historical goldmining past up there, the closing of the mines in 1915 due to poor reward for effort made, and the crushing of the quartzite rock to obtain the gold.
I have visited and poked around in the 2 Aorere River Public Fossicking sites.
Anyone tried the Anatori River or the Paturau River for those elusive colours in the pan?
I do have a list of local creeks in the area that where associated with the mines, but could that have any chance of colours being in those creeks now?
Any help of any sort would be sincerely appreciated.
Thanks, Ben.

How did you get on at the Aorere sites?

Hi GoldnGarnets, sorry about the long delay in replying, just caught your question.

No I did not get the chance to get into the Aorere sites, as found other things to do.

I will hopefully be heading to the West Coast early in the New Year, but there are a couple of family health issues that need to be sorted first.

Thanks for enquiring though. Ben.
